Q: I have never flown anything radio controlled. Is Vector Kite™ flying easy for the first time RC flyer?
A: Absolutely! Because Premier’s RC kites are large, slow flying and durable they make excellent first time choices for RC aviation. We recommend the Canard as a good choice for the beginner.

Q: I have flown many RC aircraft including foamies, heli's, scale and other aircraft. Am I going to be bored with Vector Kite™ flying?
A: Absolutely not! Vector Kite™ operation is a whole new way of flying that offers unique challenges and excitement not found in fixed wing or rotary aircraft. If you want to start off with our fastest and most maneuverable kite, we recommend the Pyramid Racer. On the other hand many experts also enjoy our slower models such as the Canard. Keep in mind that vector thrust control enables you to accomplish maneuvers impossible with conventional control surfaces.

Q: What are the best conditions to fly a Vector Kite™?
A: On first flights, we highly recommend calm conditions. Once you have become familiar with the controls, flying in a slight breeze is possible although we do not recommend flying in wind over 12 mph for any of the Vector Kites™. Flying against the wind is best accomplished by a slight downward thrust of the motor and keeping the nose into the wind.

Q: If I own one Vector Kite™ and want to try a different design, can I still use my original 707 Vector Power Unit and just purchase the kite only?
A: Yes! The great part about Vector Kiting™ is that you only need one Vector Power Unit™. Want to try other kite designs? No problem. You can save money by using your original Vector Power Unit™ and operating it with any "Vector Ready" kite. Premier currently has three "Vector Ready" kites that work with the model 707 Vector Power Unit™ -- The Pyramid Racer, The Canard and the V-Wing Box -- and we plan to offer many more exciting "Vector Ready" kites in the near future.

Q: Can Vector Kites™ be flown indoors?
A: Yes! A neighborhood gym or large meeting hall is excellent for flying Vector Kites™. The kite’s large surface area makes for impressive performances.

Q: How do I control my Vector Kite™ in a de-powered glide?
A: Since Vector Kites™ are controlled by thrust and not moving control surfaces, you must use some amount of thrust to turn the kite. Flying in a glide descent is similar to the use of reaction control jets in a spacecraft. Simply turn the control stick in the direction you want to go and give a quick “punch” of thrust and the kite will come around. It’s a way cool experience unlike any sort of conventional control system.

Q: How do I make a coordinated turn similar to my regular "control surface" aircraft that prevents wingtip stalls or "slipping"?
A: It is virtually impossible to stall a wingtip on a Vector Kite™ due to their slow speeds and low wing loading. Since turns are controlled by reactive thrust, there is no need for traditional banking. Turns are not “carved” through the air but can be fully accomplished by yaw axis alone. Any sort of slipping can be compensated by a small combination of upward vector thrust. Remember: the Premier gimbal system works not just simply in an up-down or right-left axis but also in any direction or combination of directions.

Q: Are Vector Kites™ appropriate for children?
A: No, they are not toys and should not be used by children. Vector kiting™ is similar to the operation of medium size RC helicopters and medium to large park flyers. They involve fast spinning propellers that are dangerous to children. We recommend ages 14 and up.

Q: What if I break a part on my kite or power unit?
A: Premier RC stocks all the parts for the different kites and power units. You can purchase parts in our Online Shop.

Q: I want to build my own kite/aircraft and attach your Vector Power Unit™, is that OK?
A: Yes, however Premier RC can not be responsible for use of its Vector Power Unit™ on anything except authorized kites built by Premier RC for the purpose of Vector Kite™ flying.

Q: I'm having trouble "binding" my transmitter to the Vector Power Unit™. What should I do?
A: Your transmitter has already been programmed to the receiver at the factory so no binding process is necessary.  However people occasionally have “linking” problems with their power unit.  When you turn on your transmitter, the blue LED light should rapidly flash on and off and then within a minute turn solid blue.  Once the blue light goes solid, you are ready to power up the receiver and get “linked” up for operation.  Sometimes due to radio frequency interference, the blue light will continue to flash on and off and not “lock in” to a solid blue.  Radio interference can be caused by many reasons - cell phone operations, fluorescent lights and other radio traffic are just a few factors that can hinder the transmitter from linking to the receiver.  When problems like this occur, it is best to move the transmitter outside or to a different location and turn it on there.  Once you have a solid blue light you are ready to proceed.  If you continue to have problems getting a solid blue light please call our customer service at 301-277-3888 and we will have someone help you with your unit.

Q: Are Vector Powered Kites™ patented?
A: The proprietary Gimbal system and other proprietary vector thrust control systems are currently patent pending. Vector Kite(s)™, Vector Kiting™, Vector Powered Kite(s)™ and Vector Power Unit™ are all trademarks of Premier RC.
